All Dogs Go To Heaven

I lost my dog, April, yesterday after having her for 12 years. She was the sweetest dog. She would never hurt anyone and I always trusted her around kids and strangers. She was so gentle and always let me hold her. She hated walks. It was the funniest and cutest thing to see her refuse to go on walks. She would plop down and refuse to move. We had to carry her at least half way on the walks if not more. She looked so cute when I would give her a bath- just like a baby seal! She sneezed and snorted when she was excited. We lovingly refered to her as hog-dog due to her snorts and chubby body (hard to imagine a dog could be over weight and still under five pounds!) She had two litters of puppies and I know that it took a toll on her little body. When she would fall asleep her tongue would hang out of her mouth. She had some problems with her teeth and had to have a few removed. She would sit on my lap and lay on her back and wait to have to her belly rubbed. She was the most loyal dog and I will miss her.

The Past Few Weeks...In Pictures

Its been a while since I last posted. I just want to do a quick post of my past few week in pictures. I went to my first Packers game with Dave on 8/28: It was my first time in the new stadium and it was really fun! It was Dave's first Packers game too so that was pretty special. The Packers beat the Cardinals but the Cards came back in the last quarter. It was a pre-season game, so we are hoping to get to see them play again in the winter during the regular season. I felt a little bit like a traitor cheering for Green Bay, considering I am an AZ girl through and through! I am okay with it only because I never cared at all about football until I met Dave. Baseball is a whole other story! I can't cheer for the Brewers... Whack, smack I love my Diamondbacks! We met up with Jenn and Nate at the Brewers/DBacks game last weekend. Jenn is a Brewers convert! I remember over two years ago when I drove up from Tucson just for the evening to go to the DBacks/Brewers game with Dave, Andy, and Jen. Back then it was both us gals root, root, rooting for the home team. ( :

We also went to California with Dave's friends for Labor Day weekend. We stayed at a hotel basically right on the beach with John E., John F., MK, Brock, Chris, and Eric. Eric lives less than 10 minutes from Huntington Beach! We stayed there the first night after a long drive and a quick stop at the Casino. The next day we stayed on the beach all day. Dave and the guys surfed and MK and I boogie boarded. I had a blast! I was surprised I didn't get burned to a crisp. John's friend Christ was not so lucky... apparently he was burned so bad he couldn't get out of bed the next day! Yikes! That night we went out to the bars where there were: snuggies, bar fights, and one drunk tank arrest. Ya... kinda crazy! The next day we just hung out on the beach again. Dave and I went to Ruby's for some delicious diner-style burgers and just went to bed early. Everyone else went to Laguna for the night. On the way back to AZ we stopped at the outlet malls for a few hours. It was a pretty quick trip, but overall glad I tagged along. I met up with Court last week for a walk to Pei Wei. It was nice to catch up again. Then last Sunday Dave and I went to the Casey Jones on Bell which a place for Packers fans. We met his friend from work and his wife there. It was pretty fun but sometimes football games seem so long! Its easier to go with people you're friends with so they won't be offended when you want to play games on your phone for a while. ( : Well that's been about it. Now I have the task of figuring out something good to get Dave for his bday... I already have an idea for his card!

Goodbye Summer

I cannot believe that summer is almost over! It went by way, way, way too fast! Don't get me wrong- I have had some fantastic memories from this summer! There was my Midwest vacay with Dave, my Maine trip with the fam, and camping in Flagstaff. Sometimes though, it feels like time is going by too fast. It almost September and I still haven't taken my boards or found a new job. It can get me down at times, especially around my birthday. August is a time that I take stock of my life and see how far I have come from the previous year and what goals I want to accomplish. Its my very own personal new year... so happy new year to me!

In these hard times there are always silver linings. I have learned to count my blessings and try to let go of the things that are out of my hands. I have started enjoying what I have instead of constantly thinking about what to purchase next. Most of all I have learned that its okay to share the not so perfect parts of your life with the people you love. I have learned to appreciate all the wonderful people in my life and I know that they are what make life truly worth living.

Tonight I went out for dinner and a cheapie movie with CV, one of my oldest friends. It was so good to just get out and do something fun. The movie, Cheri, was pretty terrible: aging victorian hooker takes a younger lover who then decided she's an old hag, but then decides he made a mistake and (spoiler alert) blows his brains out. I'm not kidding! Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates were in this movie...What were you thinking ladies? Anyways, still a fun night!

I am looking forward to the Cardinals vs the Packers this weekend and getting to spend some quality time with my favorite guy!

The Maine Event

Well its been almost a month since I've been back from Maine I am just now getting around to posting some pics on here. It was a shorter trip than normal and I really wish we could have stayed just one more weekend so I could have some quality time with my cousins (aka Bar Harbor nightlife!) I am so happy I was able to go. C&O's wedding was so beautiful! I was also happy to get to see all my East Coast family, especially my great aunts. I also got an insane amount of delicious seafood in one week!
After a crazy red eye flight we had just enough time to get ready for the wedding and go. We were all pretty wiped out that evening. The next morning we had a chance to walk the path outside our hotel room in Bucksport, ME. We had an incredible view of the river from our room and could hear the cannons from Fort Knox across the water! After we checked out of the hotel we headed to our hotel in Bar Harbor...another amazing view!! We really lucked out with out rooms. After a big family lunch at a pizza place, we went to the hotel. We took some pics of all the family together and then my aunts explored the pier to check out the luxury yachts near the hotel. Then the AZ fam went to Acadia National Park. It is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. We saw all the good spots- Cadillac Mt, Thunder Hole, and Sandy Beach.
The next day we stayed around the hotel in the morning and had lunch there. My cousin EC and aunt and grammie all came over to head to the Bar Harbor shops. We also found a little whale museum. That's a whale's jaw bone we're touching!

The following day we went to my mom's hometown of Whitneyville and Machias to visit. It was so nice to see my great aunts and visit the place my mom grew up. We spent the last few days of our vacation at my aunt and uncle's lake house. We went to the newlyweds' house one night for dinner. They all have amazing gardens! And of course we had to top off this trip with a family lobster feast!

This was a relaxing and fun family vacation. The only it could have been better is if Dave and Sunny could have been there too! Hopefully next time!

Midwest Adventure

It has been quite a month! I have gone on two fantastic vacations! The first was with my boyfriend to see his family in Wisconsin and Michigan and to do some sight-seeing in Chicago, IL. We packed a lot into a relatively short trip. The first day we walked around Lake Geneva with Dave's parents. It was beautiful! That night we had a delicious home cooked rib dinner. The next day Dave's parents rented a pontoon boat and we all went out on Twin Lakes. I tried to water ski but it was so hard! I have done it before in Maine, but this time I couldn't get the hang of it. The water was freezing so I didn't want to be in there too long. Tony was the only other one to try it and he got up on the first try! That night we went to friday fish fry at the country club. It was so tasty! I normally don't like fish all that much, but this changed my mind! Then we headed to Champs bar to meet Dave's friends. They were so nice and we had an awesome night! We stayed up all night hanging out by the bonfire at Tyler's and ended the night with breakfast at Manny's. Needless to say we were a little tired for 4th of July. Dave's mom's family came over for a family get together. Dave's uncle and his family were really nice. That night we watched fireworks at the lake and then the guys lit off some fireworks at Tyler's houseThe next day,on the 5th of July, we drove up the U.P. of Michigan to visit Dave's Dad's side of the family. It was a long drive but it was nice to get to know Dave's sis and her bf. We went to a mine tour in Iron Mountain before we got to Ishpaming. While we were in the Upper Peninsula, we saw Lake Superior:Pictured Rock: Lakenland Junkyard Art:and the Yooper Touirist Trap:Our next destination was the Wisconsin Dells. It was such a fun place! We camped in a little cabin at Sherwood Forest with Andy and Jenn:The first night we were there we went to Marley's for dinner and drinks:and then to the Tommy Barttlet water skiing show. The next day we went to Mount Olypmus. We went on the rollercoasters, the go-karts, the ducks tour, and of course all the water slides:We also had a lot of fun goofy golfing at Pirate's Cove and playing Catch-Phrase around the campfire at night. We also went out for a nice steak dinner at some place in the middle of no-where! Andy and Jenn told us about it and it was worth the drive!

Our last destination before heading back to the Southwest was a day in Chicago:We took the train into the city and headed straight to Shedd's Aquarium. It was so much fun! We saw the show before we left, but it was weird- none of the animals did their tricks except for the dolphins! We spent most of the day in the aquarium, but it was a good way to spend the day. Then we walked down to Navy Pier and looked around for a while before we had to catch the train back. I wish we had more time in Chicago, but I guess that gives me something to look forward to next time we visit!

Feelin Crafty!

This past weekend was a crafty one for me. I had to make a binder cover for my father's day gift and I also made a plethora of cards. I made 12 Thank-You notes, and 2 birthday cards.

Just wanted to share!
